What's in the box this week?

Eggs from our pasture-raised, certified organic, happy hens.

Bloomsdale Spinach A generous pound of winter-grown Bloomsdale spinach.  Farmer lore has it that pink root tips are a sign of sweet greens; this is sweet spinach.

Red Butter Lettuce Gorgeous, voluptuous heads of red butter lettuce.  It's name 'sangria' suggests how drunk with delight you will be when you see and eat this lettuce.

Spring Onion Our baby Walla Walla spring onions are delicious right now.  Use the whole thing: tops as green onions, the bottoms as sweet onions.

Green Garlic The flavor is becoming stronger.  The tops make a great soup stock, along with your onion and fennel tops.

Florence Fennel The bulbs can be shaved raw, sauteed, braised, or part of a classic soup base along with the onions and garlic.  The frawns may be chopped finely and used as a finishing herb.

Grapefruit Grapefruits from our home orchard, not part of our certified organic cropland - these are a CSA exclusive.  Cut them in half and spoon it out for breakfast.  Or, peel and use as marmalade.
