What's in the box this week?

Eggs from our pasture-raised, certified organic, happy hens.

Red Butterhead Lettuce Voluptuous one-pound-plus red butterheads.  Eat its heart out!

Green Garlic Perfect for flavoring your salad dressings.  Use the tops for soup stock with your onions, celery, and fennel tops.

Spring Onions Young Walla Walla spring onions.  Thinly sliced onions bottoms (or fennel) pair nicely with your oranges and butterheads.

Florence Fennel The licorice-flavored roots can be used as a substitute for carrots in a classic mirepoix: saute the chopped onions, celery, and fennel as a flavor base for many dishes.

Celery We call this "sun-stalk" celery because its stems are unblanched (grown in the sun).  This produces a slightly tougher, but much more flavorful, celery stalk. In the same family as parsley, you can use the leafy tops as a fine herb.

Navel Oranges from our alpaca-tended orchard that hasn't been irrigated in over twenty years.  These oranges vary significantly from tree to tree, but almost all have a nice balance of tart and sweet.
