What’s in the box this week?

Standard Shares include:

Charentais Melon A French cantaloupe.  Firm and sweet flesh.  Best stored on your counter for 2-3 days if you like softer flesh.  Then refrigerate.  Melons cut in half and served with a dollop of sour yogurt in the middle make a great breakfast or dessert.

Tomatillo Verde The “granny smith” of the tomato world: crisp, sweet, and tart.  Use them fresh in salads as you would tomatoes, or, use them as they are best known for salsa verde.  Remove the husk, briefly roast them, and blend with garlic, lemon or lime, salt and cilantro.  Store as you would tomatoes – on the counter if you plan on using within a couple days, or, in the warmest part of your fridge for extended life.

Serrano Peppers Use these hot peppers to turn up the heat in your salsa verde or any other dish.

Black Beauty Eggplant Our more familiar globe type eggplant.  Store in your fridge crisper.

Armenian Cucumbers Also known as “snake melon,” these fantastic cukes have a crisp green-flesh, thin skin, little to no seeds, and a sweet flavor.

Valley Girl Tomatoes

Egg Shares include eggs from our certified organic, pasture-raised, happy hens.

Preserve Shares: Bread ‘n Butter Zucchini

Vegetable Forecast:  Melon, Cherry Tomatoes, Poblano Peppers, Jalapenos, Zucchini, Garlic

We hope you enjoy your produce as much as we enjoy growing it for you!
